The short answer

What this treatment is

Pain can leave you nervous or hesitant about seeking help, so the whole consultation is built around your comfort — the more at ease you are, the better you respond to treatment. Your first appointment runs up to an hour: Yousif takes a full history of your past and present health, medications, injuries, work, and lifestyle, then examines how your whole body moves and where it compensates. From that he arrives at a working diagnosis and explains it in plain terms before any hands-on work begins. Treatment is tailored to your presentation rather than a fixed protocol, and where something falls outside osteopathic care he refers quickly through the in-house medical and wellbeing network at UNTIL.

Boundaries of practice

What's not treated

Good practice means saying no when indicated:

  • Active fracture or unstable joint in the area to be treated
  • Suspected cauda equina syndrome (loss of bladder or bowel control with back pain) — seek emergency care

  • Active cancer affecting the spine or area to be treated, without specialist clearance
  • Severe uncontrolled bleeding disorder or anticoagulant use without prescriber clearance

Patient journey

What to expect

Consultation & preparation

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows the affected area to be examined. Bring any prior scan reports or GP letters and a list of current medications and past surgeries. Allow up to an hour for the initial appointment.

During treatment

Aftercare

You leave with a working diagnosis, a bespoke treatment plan, and exercises to do between visits. Light soreness for 24 to 48 hours after treatment is common — stay hydrated, keep gently moving, and avoid heavy training for the rest of the day. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes.

Common
questions

Do I need a GP referral to see an osteopath?

No. UK osteopaths are first-contact practitioners regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), so you can book directly without a GP referral. Simply book a consultation online or call the clinic on 07582 128662, and Yousif will assess you and begin treatment at your first appointment.

What conditions does osteopathy treat?

Yousif treats a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints: neck, back, shoulder, elbow, and hand or wrist pain, postural and repetitive strain, headaches, sports injuries, and hip, knee, ankle, and foot pain. After a full assessment, treatment is tailored to your specific condition rather than a one-size-fits-all routine.

How much does treatment cost and how long does it take?

An initial osteopathy consultation and treatment is £125 and runs up to an hour, covering a full history, examination, diagnosis, and hands-on treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Pricing is kept simple and transparent, and no GP referral is needed to book.

Will osteopathic treatment hurt?

Most osteopathic techniques are comfortable, and your comfort is the priority throughout. Work on tight or guarded muscles can feel briefly tender, and it is normal to be a little sore for 24 to 48 hours afterwards, much like after exercise. Yousif adjusts the approach to your tolerance and explains what to expect before each technique.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Allow up to an hour. Yousif takes a detailed history, examines how your whole body moves, and explains his diagnosis clearly before treating you. You leave with a bespoke treatment plan covering your prognosis and the practical steps that will help you stay pain-free.
